VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Trail Maintenance
a. Sweeping "Crossing" Areas for Gravel and
Debris
b. Minor Shrub and Tree Pruning for Trail
Clearance
c. Pick Up and Dispose/Recycle Garbage, Bottles,
Cans, Etc.
2. Trail Usage Surveys
Passive Count the number and type of Trail
Users at a given time(s)
Intensive Count and Interview Trail Users in
regards to type of usage, frequency of usage, timing of usage,
purpose of usage, economic impact study, etc. (a survey form will be
provided)
3. Trailside Facilities
Building Benches construct Aldo Leopold Benches
for the Trail with an approved placement plan
Building a Kiosk(s) construct a kiosk for the
Trail
work with the Ozaukee Interurban Trail Advisory Council, We
Energies and local municipality on the design, construction and
placement of kiosks for the Trail.
Wayfinding Signage construct wayfinding signage
for the Trail
work with the Ozaukee Interurban Trail Advisory
Council.
4. DONATIONS for Trail Projects
Donations or assistance in fundraising for the
CMAQ Project Grants to construct an off-road Trail section and I-43
Pedestrian Bridge in the Town of Grafton OR Town of Port Washington.
Donations (cash or materials) for the
construction of benches, bike racks/business bike rack program,
kiosks, wayfinding signage, road crossing signage (name of road),
mileage markers, trail stripping/painting, garbage cans, and
interpretive (historical or environmental/resource) signage.
Donations (cash or materials) to develop a
Trailside Users County Park in the Town of Port Washington (e.g.
picnic benches)
Donations (cash and/or land) for Parking
Facilities nearby the Trail
Donations (cash and in-kind) for Marketing,
Advertising, Printing Items for the Trail
Donations for Website Enhancements and
Development
Donations (cash and in-kind) for Trail Events
(giveaways, etc.)
Donations for the production of Trail Maps,
Birding Maps, etc.
5. Natural Resources
Invasive Species Control work with the Trail
Advisory Council, We Energies, Ozaukee County Planning, Resources,
and Land Management Dept., and Local Municipalities to control /
remove invasive species that have been identified in a target area
along the Trail.
Replant Native Species (Herbaceous (Flowers),
Shrub, Small Tree) - work with the Trail Advisory Council, We
Energies, Ozaukee County Planning, Resources, and Land Management
Dept., and Local Municipalities to replant target areas with
designated and approved plant species. Target areas will include
those being controlled for invasive species.
Water Quality Monitoring - work with the Trail
Advisory Council, We Energies, Ozaukee County Planning, Resources,
and Land Management Dept., and Local Municipalities to monitoring
water quality at designated sites along the Trail.
6. Historical / Cultural Donations
a. Donations of Interurban Trail relevant
historical or cultural items.
